Marcello Maloberti presents POESIA, a new light installation conceived for the delightful Italianate gardens of the Villa Giulia National Etruscan Museum in Rome. The installation is curated by Cristiana Perrella.The Renaissance villa, commissioned by Pope Julius III – a lover of art and beauty – will become the ideal setting and frame for a large white neon sign that spells the word POESIA (POETRY), turned on its head. The letters are shaped according to the artist\u2019s own handwriting and give the impression of hanging in mid-air, the only support provided by an arrangement of scaffolding pipes – a temporary structure reminiscent of a construction site, of an urban landscape, of impermanence.<\/p>

The work silently yet powerfully embraces the monumental quality of the location, hovering like an apparition: the word becomes pure light, shining on the centuries-old architecture of the museum.<\/p>

The word POESIA, the wrong way up, appears to have fallen from the sky, creating an upheaval, a visual swoon that incites us to view reality from a new perspective. Art – like poetry – is a device that can bewilder and reveal. To mark this exhibition, the artist is also presenting a new book, published by TRECCANI and also entitled POESIA. The famous handwritten phrases, known as Martellate (\u201cHammer Blows\u201d), which have accompanied Maloberti\u2019s artistic practice since the early 1990s, now take the shape of poetic deeds.<\/p>

The artist introduces a new way of writing as he addresses themes linked to the sacred, the mystical, and the divine, in an ongoing quest for the sublime. Words visit their readers, accompanying them towards a place where reality is always suspended.<\/p>

The poems, like obscure sentences endlessly searching for meaning and sense, burst onto the white page, an alternation of moods and formal registers. The volume, in Italian and French, features translations by Jean-Paul Manganaro.<\/p>

“Sculpted Gestures” brings four works by Jago into dialogue\u2014Impronta Animale (Animal Impronta, 2012), Memoria (Memory, 2015), Prigione (Prison, 2016), and David (2024, bronze)\u2014with the cultural and archaeological stratification of Taormina. The first three sculptures, carved in statuary marble, revolve around the theme of the hand: a symbol of contact, creation, and personal affirmation. It is through the hand that human beings leave a mark, sink into matter, and construct memory. Not just a tool, but a self-portrait: a living presence that spans time. In Impronta Animale, the hand becomes a relic: a primordial sign that recalls cave paintings, evoking an ancestral connection with the earth and our profound history. Memoria presents a handprint carved into the stone. The work reflects on memory and legacy, making the trace of human presence tangible as a symbol of permanence and remembrance. In Prison, the sculpted image, wrapped in the folds of marble, seems to be trying to emerge from a stone prison. The contours of the human figure are barely delineated, while the limbs stretch with a strong sense of tension. Gesture is everything: the urgency of existence, a symbol of the struggle to free oneself from what constrains.<\/p>

Alongside these stands David, a 181 cm tall gilded bronze sculpture, displayed at the top of the stands of the Ancient Theatre. After making a symbolic voyage around the world alongside the training ship Amerigo Vespucci, the work arrives in Taormina carrying with it the weight of an epic and contemporary narrative. As in other creations, here too Jago draws on classical iconography and the tradition of the great masters, reinterpreting the myth of David and Goliath in a modern key to tell a different story, yet one still imbued with courage and revenge. The iconography is recognizable in the proud posture of the female figure (reminiscent of Michelangelo’s famous David), the slingshot, and the stone she clutches in her hands\u2014elements that recur as recurring motifs in the artist’s latest masterpieces. The David project began in 2021 with an initial hand-crafted clay model. From that initial image, several versions were created in clay and plaster, culminating in the current model, cast in bronze using the ancient technique of lost-wax casting. The final version, sculpted from Carrara marble and over 4 meters tall, will represent a milestone in Jago’s artistic journey, committing him to a true undertaking.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201cTony Cragg. Infinite forms and beautiful\u201d brings 18 sculptures created over the last two decades to the Halls of the Baths of Diocletian. The ancient structures of the Baths are not new to dialogue with contemporary works: their alternating events, the many transformations they have undergone, the centuries they have passed through make them a lively and welcoming place. This exhibition creates a stimulating comparison between the pure and essential architecture of the thermal spaces, their grandiose roofs, the geometric volumes of Halls X, XI and XI bis with the seductive, disturbing, mysterious forms of the sculptures by the English artist. A fascinating and lively encounter between the perfection of the construction technique of the ancient world and the references to natural elements of the mineral and vegetal world, to geology and biology, evoking the waves of the sea, the geometric structures of a plant or a shell. The different materials in which the works are made – bronze, wood, travertine, steel, fiberglass – join this polyphonic chorus of elements, interacting with the soft and sculpted forms of ancient sarcophagi and marble statues, with the purple tones of the bricks of the walls and with the black and white tiles of the mosaics. The exploration of the relationships between the forms of the natural world and those of artificial spaces is not limited to ancient Roman architecture alone, but radiates outside the Baths of Diocletian through streets and roads, reaching the city squares, whose familiar forms are now revealed as new and unexpected.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Botero’s monumental sculptures for the first time in the capital, from 10 July to 1 October 2024. The widespread exhibition entitled “Botero in Rome”, curated by Lina Botero<\/strong>, is created by Fernando Botero Foundation in collaboration with BAM Arte, Il Cigno GG Edizioni and Il Cigno Arte.<\/p>

With the patronage of the Municipality of Treviso and the victory of the “Notice of Expression of Interest for the implementation of a project to enhance the urban context of the Sant’Andrea gardens”, BAM Arte is committed to an artistic-social project for the regeneration and activation of the Gardens of Sant’Andrea in Treviso.
This high-impact intervention aims to “highlight” and revive a space through art, conviviality and the active participation of businesses, commercial activities, restaurants and above all citizens. The area of \u200b\u200bthe Giardini di Sant’Andrea, known for its critical issues, will become a place of meeting and interaction.
The proposed activities will accompany citizens for a month, from 21 June to 21 July. Art is at the center of the programming, with entertainment and cultural activities offered daily for all age groups: workshops, presentations, music and theatrical performances.
The area will also be enriched by site-specific works by artists Greg Goya and Poeta della Serra. The interactive nature of the works allows them to never be complete: they are born thanks to the artists and are modified every day thanks to the intervention of external participants.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The works that I would like to exhibit in the Sistine Lanes were carried out in 2015\/2016. At the time I didn’t think I should talk about this problem: migrations certainly didn’t arise in those years but perhaps date back to thousands of years ago.
The exhibition tells; each painting is ultimately a presentation and representation of an intimate, political, religious feeling.
The title of the exhibition is “The Migrants” not because it is an exclusive female problem but I like to consider the feeling almost exclusive to them. We are all migrants and women, mothers, wives, daughters more like the Virgin Mary was for Jesus.<\/p>

It’s very simple! Behind the wet and dirty tracksuits in colorful plastic bags, I believe that every migrant hides a festive dress, a dress in memory of a rite, of a sacrament for her or for those closest to her.
All this is the secret, the memory of their life. Of a life that a dangerous journey could one day rebuild, even if someone is no longer with them.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Among the dozens of wars being fought all over the planet, 24 February this year reminds us that 12 months have already gone by since war broke out between Russia and Ukraine. Measuring 10 x 6 metres, this installation will stand in front of the imposing great Palace of Justice in Rome<\/strong>: made up of jute sacks, it depicts a kind of military fortification with a Silent Muse<\/strong> – a sculpture – as its heart: The Encounter (4 metres high). The Encounter – a symbol of union between different cultures<\/strong> – seeks to takes us further, towards the hope of acquiring that awareness which in this work sets everything in motion from a single point to bring us, after a thousand intricate pathways, closely and equally together.This is why, in this particular moment in history brimming with contrasts and tensions, proposing the theme of meeting and dialogue between our differences takes <\/strong>on a high symbolic meaning.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
